Abstract:

In the present era, Hindi has emerged not merely as India’s official or link language, but as a powerful global language. Owing to its simplicity, openness and flexibility, Hindi has become a significant medium of communication across the world. According to the Ethnologue (2022) report, Hindi is the third most widely spoken language in the world. Hindi is spoken and understood in over 100 countries worldwide, including Mauritius, Fiji, Guyana, Suriname, Nepal and major countries like the United States and the United Kingdom. Hindi content has increased more than tenfold in the era of the internet and social media, making it one of the fastest-growing languages in the digital world. Indian culture, yoga, Bollywood films and the growing Indian diaspora have given Hindi international recognition. Hindi is studied and taught in leading universities in countries like the United States, Germany, China, Japan and Russia. The globalization of Hindi is a result of India’s expanding economic and cultural reach. This language serves not only as a medium of knowledge and literature but is also carving out a distinct identity for itself in the digital economy of the future.
